Dog Licensing

Dog licenses are valid for one calendar year and expire on December 31 of each year.  A rabies vaccination certificate must be provided annually with the application, even if still current. 

The owner of any dog more than five (5) months of age on January 1 of any year, or five (5) months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog becomes five (5) months of age, pay a license tax and obtain a license. After March 31, a late fee will be assessed for each dog license. 

Dog License Fees: 

  • Neutered / spayed: $23.00/dog
  • Not neutered / spayed: $32.00/dog
  • Late Fees: $5.00/dog

Payment by check or cash may be dropped off at the Marshall Police Department. Please use the drop box at the main entrance after hours. 

Municipal Ordinance Limits Number of Dogs:

No family shall own, harbor or keep in its possession more than three (3) dogs in any residential unit, except that a litter of pups or portion of a litter may be kept for not more than eight (8) weeks from birth. (Municipal Code 7-4-16)

Please Note: The Village of Marshall does not license cats.
